Patient Care Area

A patient care area is used primarily for the provision of clinical care to patients.  Such care areas including monitoring, evaluation, and treatment services that can occur in the following type of locations:

  • Bay:  A space with a hard wall at the headwall and soft walls on the sides and foot.
  • Cubicle:  A space that has at least one opening and no door and is enclosed on three side with full-height or partial height partitions.
  • Room:  A space with a door that is fully enclosed with walls.  Rooms can be single patient or multi-patient.
